Pulsatile Nasal Irrigation improves Nasal Muco-ciliary Movement ¡@Most of our clinical experiences are learned from our patients. One gentleman taught me that you should use larger volume of warm saline to flush the nose more frequently when catching a cold. He told me: " Thank you doctor! Your recommendation of pulsatile warm saline nasal irrigation is wonderful. It really works. I did not think it was helpful initially when I saw my wife using it for her allergic rhinitis last year. I tried it sometimes when catching a cold too. Yes, it is comfortable after flushing the nose. But I did not find any special benefit of using it. I felt very uncomfortable after a cold about half year ago, and got worse even after anti-cold medications. I took a rest at home due to severe drowsiness and general weakness. I can do nothing to improve my condition at that time. I tried the pulsatile nasal irrigation again, but washed my nose every 3~4 hours with 2000cc warm saline each time. What amazing! It worked! I recovered from my bad cold 2~3 days later. I discarded all the medications when start washing my nose, because I thought some discomfort might be the side effects of the anti-cold medications. Your recommendation of washing the nose with warm saline is admirable, but you were wrong for only suggesting to wash the nose with 500cc warm saline. It is not enough for the treatment of cold attack. I tried it later when catching a cold, and proved that it was effective if washing the nose every 3~4 hours with 2000cc warm saline. The result was not good if only flush the nose once by only 500cc warm saline." We learned a lot from similar reports from our patients, that's why our patients founded the cornerstone in our successful usage of pulsatile warm saline nasal irrigation. I learned pulsatile warm saline nasal irrigation from Dr. Murray Grossan in 2000, the original inventor of pulsatile nasal irrigator. I have checked and searched all the English medical reports that I can have about the practical usage of nasal irrigation. Most reports were based on the usage of 500cc warm saline nasal irrigation once or twice per day( only a few reports mentioned using 1000cc warm saline) for nasal allergy, cold and sinusitis. Actually we encountered a lot of small but important questions for the first three years after introducing the method of pulsatile warm saline nasal irrigation to treat various upper respiratory tract inflammatory diseases, including nasal allergy, cold, sinusitis or post nasal drip. We paid attention to every questions our patients reported, considered seriously and resolved all the questions we encountered, and gradually modified the way we applied the pulsatile warm saline nasal irrigation. That's why we can master the pulsatile warm saline nasal irrigation more effective and safe now. The reasons we can accumulate our clinical experiences and master the benefits and safety of pulsatile warm saline nasal irrigation very quickly, within 3~5 years, are: 1. We experience the pulsatile warm saline nasal irrigation personally -- all the new staff in our clinic (including medical doctors and nurses) should try the pulsatile warm saline nasal irrigation by themselves everyday. So all of our staff can realize what our patients said about the pulsatile warm saline nasal irrigation. Actually It is very important. It is said that " a pediatric doctor is mature only after he/her has his/her own baby." You cannot realize and resolve many small but practical and important questions patients ask during the therapeutic process if you, the medical staff, do not have the experience by yourself. 2. Thousands of patients tried our recommended pulsatile warm saline nasal irrigation in our clinic every month. Yes, over 1,000 patients tried it every month in our clinic. That's why we can encounter many different, even rare, questions that might occur. Few medical doctors in the world can observe so many patients washing the nose directly. Yes, these are the two important questions you can ask when looking for a specialist. Do you have the personal experience? How many similar patients you have and what is the success rate of management? Please read carefully every paper in our web site, the information provided here is the medical knowledge nowadays. You may find many practical information that you cannot find in other web sites or books, because these invaluable information are taught by our patients. |
